Ms. Kelley suffered for ten years with neck pain. She always thought that the pain was stress related and tried to ignore it or took OTC medications. Then the pain got worse. She had pain on the left side of her neck and into her arm and fingers. She went to her doctor and was diagnosed with a herniated disc. She took medication but the pain continued. She met Dr. Staulo at Curves Workout Center where he was doing a free spinal screening. She decided to try chiropractic.
"I found the treatments to be very easy and painless. Dr. Staulo gave me exercises to do at home which only took a few minutes a day. The pain and numbness went away in a few months. It has made an amazing difference in my life. Now I go once per month. This has kept me totally pain free, I have full range of motion in my neck and the pain has never come back."
"My quality of life is so much better with chiropractic care. I am very happy now, and pain free."

In 1984 I was injured in an automobile accident. I was the passenger in a car that was struck by a drunk driver. I sustained a severe neck injury, permanent muscle and nerve damage in the C-7and C-8 area in my neck and partial paralysis in my right arm and hand. Due to my injuries, I was unable to work for over one year. My physician set up physical therapy treatment in local hospitals. During the next eight year, I would be treated by many different physical therapists two or three times per week. These methods consisted of heat, ultrasound and stretching. The therapists would treat me for many months, recognize little improvement and then inform me they had "gone as far as they could go with me." I wore a soft neck collar and right arm sling daily for one year. I could not work and was in constant pain. Each day it was necessary for me to take a pain pill and a sleeping pill each evening. Some people openly accused me of "faking" the injury in order to receive a large court settlement. What they didn't know was the man that injured me had no insurance, no job, no assets and no ability to pay me one dime. The longer the injury persisted, with little or no relief, the more troubled my personal life became. Friends ignored me and I became isolated and hopeless. I would frequently stay home alone in my pajamas and not talk to or see anyone for days. Years later my experiences would be included as a chapter in the book Working Against Odds: Stories of Disabled Women's Work Lives by Mary Grimley Mason. My physicians eventually recognized the negative impact my injuries had on my life and encouraged me to return to work part time and continue physical therapy two times each week. After ten years, the report from physical therapy was that I "should have improved substantially from my oriiginal injury." The fact was I continued to suffer pain, limited range of motion, could not lift my right arm over my head, perform any repetitive motion with my right arm and suffered intolerable pain on cold and rainy days. At this time, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease named Lupus.. Although it is not known how this disease is created in the body, one thought is that it might have been triggered by the massive doses of medication I took for over fifteen years.
In 2005, I was still experiencing debilitating pain and stiffness in my neck during the cold winter months and constant limited range of motion. Turning to my physician, I informed her I could not tolerate the pain. I was given an appointment to return to physical therapy for the 20th time. When I arrived at the hospital, a lovely physical therapy explained what my treatment would be - heat, ultrasound and stretching. This procedure had not worked for me the past twenty years and I left the hospital and cancelled the physical therapy. A colleague had been in a car accident and had been treated by Dr. Robert Staulo. She was amazed at her rapid recovery and reduction in symptoms after treatment. As I was sitting at my desk wearing a heating pad on my neck, she strongly suggested I make an appointment to see him. I had never been to a chiropracter and was suspect of them. I was at a point in my life that the pain was intolerable and as I mentioned to Dr. Staulo at our first meeting, I had tried almost every treatment except voodoo witchcraft. I can't explain why, but I decided to try chiropractic treatment to find out once and for all if it would improve my physical condition. I began treatment as a skeptic. Dr. Staulo was concerned at the severity of my injury twenty years after the accident. I noticed an almost immediate increase in the range of motion in my neck. As I continued my treatment with Dr. Staulo, I informed him that the true test would be during the cold winter months. To my amazement, the winter came wtihout the usual pain and suffering - I didn't use my heat pad at work once! Although I am aware the residual symptoms will take longer to improve, I am totally convinced of the therapeutic value of Dr. Staulo's adjustments. Twenty years ago medical professionals were not referring patients to chiropractors. This was a huge disservice to the patients with conditions that cannot be treated by traditional physical therapy. I feel that I suffered needlessly for over two decades when there was chiropractic treatment available that would have reduced my symptoms and saved me from the living hell I experienced. I highly recomend Dr. Staulo. His treatment improved my quality of life and reduced my pain and suffering. It is appreciated.
