What Is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic is the third largest health care profession in the U.S. behind Medicine and Dentistry. Chiropractors are primary health care providers trained in the health of the entire human body.

Chiropractic colleges are accredited by the same federal agencies that accredit medical schools. Chiropractic education specializes in arthrology(study of joints), biomechanics and the nervous system.

While chiropractic education focuses on the neuro- muscular skeletal system, medical schools spend very little time on this aspect of health, specializing instead on disease processes and pharmaceuticals.

If Dr Staulo finds any health problem during the course of his examination that is not in the scope of chiropractic practice he will recommend the appropriate medical specialist.

The primary method of care used by chiropractors is manual manipulation, called adjustments . Chiropractic adjustments restore joint motion, relieving joint inflammation, muscle spasms and nerve irritation. Chiropractic adjustments are unique to the chiropractic profession. Chiropractic care is proven more effective than physical therapy or medical care in the care of low back pain.

Who Should See a Chiropractor?

  • People of all ages can benefit from Chiropractic care. Drugless, non-surgical Chiropractic care relieves pain due to neuromuscular-skeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain, sciatica, disc herniation, migraine headaches, car accidents and sports injuries.
  • Infants and children can especially benefit from chiropractic adjustments which have a powerful and positive effect on the human nervous system. Chiropractic adjustments commonly relieve chronic ear infections, colic, chronic constipation or diarrhea and is often helpful in cases of ADD, ADHD, and chronic bedwetting. Chiropractic adjustments help insure normal spinal and postural development and can prevent the development of scoliosis.
  • Senior citizens can find relief from chronic arthritis pain with chiropractic adjustments.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Do Chiropractic Adjustments Hurt?

No. Chiropractic adjustments restore normal joint motion. Your own body is constantly adjusting itself. Chiropractic care assists the bodys natural ability to restore and maintain joint function.

Once You Start Care, Do You Have To Go Forever?

Chiropractic care offers a lifetime, preventative maintenance program to preserve spinal health and prevent injuries. This idea is much the same as lifetime dental care or routine medical check-ups. Chiropractic maintenance care is totally optional and separate from injury care. The patient always has the option of how much care they need or want.
